b.chang is in the house!

Warning! If rodents make you squirmy, don't look directly at the picture!

For my first ever post, I'd like to show the world this picture of a successful mouse trap. If you've all been following, you know that our apartment has had a mouse problem for quite some time now. It's because of all the construction going on on Gayley: the trees that they cut down used to be homes for these field mice, but they've been forced to scatter into the neighboring apartment buildings. Since then, mouse-sightings have been a daily occurrence.

BUT WE FINALLY CAUGHT ONE! With the help of a sticky glue trap and a piece of a Cheeto, we caught this mouse! I won't tell you what happened to it, but we were all overjoyed to have finally caught a mouse.

On a side note, Benson and Tito used to be deathly afraid of mice. But by God's perfect plan of sanctification, this mouse problem has helped them overcome their fears. They're changed men!

From your top, left bunk buddy,
b.chang

...I know Benson will be overjoyed when he sees this post. Try to contain it, B. This is your early birthday present. Don't expect anything else, haha.

finals madness

While apartment 110 is busy at work on their tasks for the ensuing week of finals, Terence "Titorious" Chen decides to whip out this quite confused jacket.

notice the row of teeth on this jacket does not stop at the collar where most jackets of this sort often do, but rather decides to zip through the hood, all the way down to the back, thus creating a jacket that can fully dismember itself and any utility it possesses

what possible reasons could there be for a jacket like this? i list a few:
-a person feels cold... only with half of their body
-a person is preparing to dress up as harvey "two face"
-a person is attempting to follow in the footsteps of Elton John or Johnny Weir
-a person hears that there is a 50% chance of precipitation

all reasons that would not justify the wearing of this jacket with the intent of using its unique attribute, but still an interesting product nonetheless.
thank you nike for this diversion from my studies. until next time.

Sentimental Sunday - Pi Day

so i have made the executive decision to do a "sentimental sunday" post every week that way i can post pictures from before this blog was started.

what a great idea right? my best ones usually come during finals week...besides, since i figure i've been the only one posting, i need to keep coming up with fun ideas in order to coerce chang (brian & not david) and chen to make their first posts.

EDIT:
thank you gene h. ikeda for making his SECOND post as i was writing up this one. for our readers at home, please encourage the two top bunk members of the b.boys to make their first post. my voice alone is not enough. thank you!

circa august 2009.

the guys were good sports to come to my sister's birthday party where everyone was either at least 10 years younger than us or old enough to be our parents.

saturday morning pizza

as brian left this morning for home, he noticed that they were having a pizza party out in our lobby for those who are renewing.

brian discovers the pizza

jennifer, our manager, encourages us to eat the salad and fruit

gene talks to our friendly neighbor who tells us about this great opportunity for econ majors. gene goes to wake up terence so that he can get pizza and maybe even a job.

terence "networking" before he smashes on some free pizza

what a fun morning!

up in the air - running diary

bunk boys (me, terence, bri) are watchin "up in the air" - courtesy of Robbie Chew

those in company: nancy wu, kyle oda, joanna chen, coral chou, tiffany nguyen.

approx 5 min. into the movie: Terence and I try to play a game where we see how many times we can get joanna to turn around and look at us. I suggest a different game - we call out people we want to distract and then have 1 minute to do it. Terence says "i kinda want to watch this movie". that's alright, Mickey does plenty of things without Minnie.

the f-bomb is dropped about 4-5 times in the opening scene. i can tell everyone is cringing a little bit, no one expected this film to be like "up" but at this point it sounds more like "inglorious basterds".

i get up to get some juice and as i open up our fridge half of the people look over because our fridge smells like some durian. brian motions over to shut the fridge because the smell is just as distracting as George Clooney's good looks.

DISTRACTION: coral - joanna and nancy start sharing their food from rendezvous.

the "for award consideration only" banner comes on for the first time. we all chuckle that our very own SAG member is sharing his privileges with us.

DISTRACTION: tina chen (bunk boys' first lady)arrives - she frowns and walks over to take a seat next to brian. she looks frazzled and opens up a box of oreos before sitting down. her series of actions has me distracted for another 5 min. i have no idea what is going on in the movie.

george clooney and the girl from departed go back to her hotel room - tina covers the guys' eyes (brian and kyle). everyone looks away or covers their eye. Robbie hides behind some english book that he strangely has held open.

terence and i spot the mother from "rookie of the year" and we reenact the last scene where the rookie throws an underhand softball pitch to win the game.

this really saucy girl comes onto the screen and everyone laughs at the fact that she says she is a "psychology major" - we are such nerds.

George Clooney verbally sticks it to the saucy girl with a witty monologue.
-Tina says "YAYUH"
-Terence is giddy and slaps me in the back like a silly girl
-Brian says "George Clooney is the man" as tina looks on affectionately

sidenote: Terence and I realized that Jason Bateman who plays Clooney and Saucy Girl's boss is someone that we have seen in many movies but we did not know his name until now. Some other notable roles he has had: the guy from hancock, the arrested development guy.

DISTRACTION: Tina offers an oreo to kyle, i am going to attempt to get her to give me one.

she obliges and offers an oreo to everybody- this is why she is the bunk boy's first lady. sorry girls, position is filled!

everyone laughs again at Clooney's diatribe on people at airport. i was not paying attention so i do not laugh.

me: i bet saucy girl falls in love with clooney
terence: no
me: why?
terence: father/daughter-ly love at best

Movie is beginning to pick up - everyone is staying quiet, i have nothing to report on except Robbie still has his english book propped open in one hand.

DISTRACTION: Tina runs into our bedroom to grab a blanket. It is a safe assumption to make that all girls enjoy clutching a blanket during movies.

She comes back to an awkward texting scene - mama tina covers Brian and Kyle's eyes again.
she demands to know what the rating for the movie is.

this is beginning to be a very depressing movie. i don't see how saucy girl and clooney can fall for each other in all these depressing scenes. hollywood stun me soon please!

saucy girl breaks down - is crying like crazy. clooney comforts her.
-i give my best "i told you so look" at terence
-terence rolls his eyes
-i can sense that we are annoying the rest of the people watching

clooney and the departed girl starting dancing at some junior high-like party.
-things are looking grim for the "saucy gal and Clooney" romance

young m.c. makes a cameo to perform "bust a move"

the departed girl and clooney have a moment on the back of this small yacht. them kissing hurts me in so many ways - mainly that Terence is right and i am wrong.

*side note gene is knocked out or "grounded" as we joked. he's actually just in our bedroom watching some other film he needs to know for a class.

clooney: i really like you
tina: don't say it!
departed girl: i like you too
tina: (frowns and pouts)

tina is reading the plot on wikipedia. she gasps at some revelation which annoys me because i am tempted to wiki the film myself.

Brian tells us that he thinks that the sister looks like Jim Halpert AHA!

the crazy guy from Pineapple express is the fiancee of Jim Halpert look-alike sister
-struggling to take him serious
-the outfit he's wearing to the wedding looks like what Fogel wears in Superbad

Wedding scenes have all the girls buzzing. its kinda sweet watching clooney dance.

departed girl: call me when you get lonely
clooney: i'm lonely
tina: (bounces up and down in her chair with fists balled up)

saucy girl is brought back into the movie
*terence whispers..."any chance still?"
-yeah i guess i lost this one.

clooney finds out departed girl is a wife and has kids
-there is a soft "oohhh" from the audience.

the rest of the movie is too serious for me to make any witty comment on...besides i don't want to spoil ALL of the movie.

this is post-"up in the air", gene is playin final fantasy xiii while adoring female fans + robbie watch on.

Farewell young friend

So for the last four days, the fab four has grown to five with the inclusion of brians baby-faced baby brudder (purposely included baby twice in my description cause he's such a cutie).

However, as much as we enjoyed adopting him as the youngest member of the bunky-b's, he had to head back to Malibu and be a college student again.

I think I speak for 110 when I say we can't wait for you to visit again davy.

The Intruder Speaks...

Hello,

I am David (apparently mini Brian). Benson forced me to be the first guest post or else he would stare at me nonstop. He already does that anyway, but I figured I should just make him happy. So...staying with the Bunk Boys:

Benson: the princess of the apartment
Gene: has big feet
Terence: moves back and forth from his bed to his spot at the table
Brian: thinks he's cooler than he really is

That's all I have to say. Good night. :) Thank you for your hospitality.

guest appearance

today's post will be about someone other than terence.
so just who exactly is this kid?

well, let me tell you, for those of you who know the oldest of the bunk boys (bchang), this is his younger hermano, David!

*wait, before i continue, let me explain the situation real quick*
so as a visitor to bruinville, we all took it upon ourselves to take turns lookin after the little chang, show him around, give him a taste of the west side.

-Indians
-Gushi Combo Plate
-Nike, discount windbreakers
-Chupacabra sightings
-lats, traps, and delts

overall a good day i would say.

i'm glad i got to hang out with this kid, he's got some good ideas, a good head on his shoulders, and will do some big things. babysitting is a drag, but kickin it with this young fellow is anything but. welcome at 110 any time

sorry for the brief entry, but hey it's late and it's my first time. signing off for the night.

Bunk Boys Are Not On Break

For those of y'all who thought that we had retired from the blog game after one post, this is for you: WE HAVEN'T!

On account of a busy schedule for the four of us this week we haven't had time to talk about our days much less take pictures of anything.

However, we do have pictures from the photo shoot for Benson's film & tv directing class project. If you are familiar with the film Jerry Maguire (1996) starring Tom Cruise, and Cuba Gooding Jr, Jay Mohr, and Jerry O'Connell, check back to see our 3 scene rendition of the film.

We would like to announce that as of today 75% of our apartment has turned 22.

Terence Chen (February 25th)

More pictures to come later but for now just admire the fresh kobe V's on birthday boy's feet.

Other birthdays that passed before the birth of the BBB blog.

Terence Mixes it Up with the Mouse

background:
about two weeks ago, our apartment discovered we had an unwanted neighbor and fifth member of the B.B. club. how it got here - we have no idea; but according to our manager, Jennifer, the on-going construction on campus is scattering the field mice into the nearby apartments, including ours.

we have set up glue-pad traps but either our almonds and peanut butter are not appealing to the everyday field mice or we have some ultra-intelligent deep blue sea type mice that are dodging our traps.

tonight, our very own terence "yes he really does spell it with only one r" chen, located mickey scurrying into our living room closet. he promptly woke me up from my nap to help him corner and catch the animal. after lots of screaming and jumping up and down by the both of us, terence did his best imitation of team usa v. canada hockey on the little fellow and knocked him out with a broomstick right outside of our kitchen. we scooped him into a plastic bag and tossed him into the nearest trash can outside of our apartment.

introduction

welcome to the official blog of your friends: benson, brian, gene and terence.

inspired by project 365, our apartment has decided to capture the brief time that we have left living together through this page.

our goal is to be able to look back on any day from today (february 21st) to spring quarter and all the way through graduation and our move-out date and be able to recall what highlighted that particular day for the four of us.

some days it might be 1 photo and other days more than that, but hopefully this page will soon be full of photographed memories.

to you - the reader, our friends & family: hopefully this will give you a brief look into how it looks when four guys live in a one-room apartment (we have bunks - hence the name of the blog).

Your Friendly Four-some,

The Bunk Boys
